Inner Landscapes Series - an ongoing visual diary of inner worlds, tracing emotional complexity. 

The Inner Landscapes series consists of intimate, small-scale works on paper created as an ongoing, intuitive exploration of emotional states, memory, and inner movement. Each piece emerges without a fixed plan, evolving through layers of colour, gesture, and texture until a sense of balance reveals itself from within initial chaos.

Working with different types of oil paints (including oil pastels, oil sticks, and drawing oils), acrylic, and occasionally charcoal and pencil on heavy-weight, structured and hand-made paper, Carolin builds surfaces that shift subtly with changing light and time of day. These works invite slow looking and taking your time to explore - revealing new relationships, depth, and atmosphere over time. Though modest in scale, each painting carries presence and emotional weight of a larger inner world. 

The series is created on heavyweight, handmade cotton rag paper, chosen for its exceptional strength, softness, and tactile presence. The gently irregular edges and subtly textured surface form an integral part of the piece, enhancing its sensitivity and quiet physicality.

A dense and restless field unfolds through layered gestures and shifting tones. Intense reds and shadowed passages carry emotional weight, holding questions without answers and allowing intensity to exists without immediate resolution. 

Within this charged space, lighter colours and open moments begin to surface. These quieter gestures offer orientation - fragments of clarity, warmth, and quiet joy emerging from within the turbulence. 

The work holds a bold, yet quiet and sensitive power. It speaks of remaining present within complexity, where unrest and harmony coexist, and where something steady and life-affirming can still be found.
