Inner Landscapes Series - an ongoing visual diary of inner worlds, tracing emotional complexity.
The Inner Landscapes series consists of intimate, small-scale works on paper created as an ongoing, intuitive exploration of emotional states, memory, and inner movement. Each piece emerges without a fixed plan, evolving through layers of colour, gesture, and texture until a sense of balance reveals itself from within initial chaos.
Working with different types of oil paints (including oil pastels, oil sticks, and drawing oils), acrylic, and occasionally charcoal and pencil on heavy-weight, structured and hand-made paper, Carolin builds surfaces that shift subtly with changing light and time of day. These works invite slow looking and taking your time to explore - revealing new relationships, depth, and atmosphere over time. Though modest in scale, each painting carries presence and emotional weight of a larger inner world.
The series is created on heavyweight, handmade cotton rag paper, chosen for its exceptional strength, softness, and tactile presence. The gently irregular edges and subtly textured surface form an integral part of the piece, enhancing its sensitivity and quiet physicality.
Every piece in this series is unique, dated, and signed, forming part of an ongoing visual diary of inner landscapes.
Inner Landscapes - 21.11.2025
Created on 21 November 2025, this piece explores a quiet tension between containment and release. A dense field of deep violet and plum settles in the upper part, carrying a sense of weight and introspection, while below, warmer tones of coral and rose emerge with softness and movement.
The surface reveals traces of its own making - areas where pigment gathers, resists, or thins - holding moments of pressure and change. The contrast between these two fields create a fragile balance, as if something held within has begun to shift and come into light.
